Orphan Summit IV

It's Sunday morning and we're making the long trek home to NC.  (I'm so lovin' this broadband card!  I can get on-line anytime, anywhere-- even in the car!!)

The Orphan Summit in Ft. Lauderdale was amazing.  Kay Warren's session was so moving and Bob Coy is such a dynamic communicator.  Once again, I feel empowered to dream BIG for orphan care.  My friends Jill and Ashley from Biltmore Baptist kept me laughing the entire two days, which turned the conference into a "chick-retreat" get-away which I desperately needed.

Some tidbits about orphans that opened my spiritual eyes--

--Did you know that when Jesus told Peter to "feed my sheep" three times, the first time He actually said "feed my lambs?"  Interesting....

--Did you know that when Jesus said "visit the orphans" the word visit in the Greek comes from two words-- inspect and select?  Interesting....

--Did you know that most of us misquote the verse from Matthew that says, "whatever you have done to the least of these, you have done to me?"  It actually says, "Whatever you have done unto ONE of the least of these....."    Interesting....

I've got a ton of things bouncing around in my heart about what I heard and experienced at the Summit.  As I write about them, I'll share with you.

As far as the adoption update, we're still praying about which child to choose.  We have three more visits to the social worker before our homestudy can be written.  I'll keep you posted...  until then, it's six more hours in this car..... *sigh*
