Yesterday, a precious saint went to be with the Lord. But, the headlines missed it. In fact, not many people even noticed her obituary this morning. But Heaven noticed. And oh, what a hero's welcome Pam Gremillion must have received when she passed from this life to the next.
Pam was an incredible voice for Liberian orphans. She spent countless hours over the past many years matching orphaned children with adoptive parents in the US. She counseled them on the phone.... She prayed with them during the adoption process.... She answered all their questioning by phone and email....
Pam was the "go-between" person for the Liberian mission- WACSN, and potential adoptive parents. She seemed to never tire of helping find families for the Liberian orphans. She and her husband, Charles, even adopted 3 Liberian girls themselves.
I found a poem today that Mother Teresa posted at one of the Children's Homes in Calcutta, and I thought of Pam and the impact she has had on eternity through her efforts with WACSN. Pam did more for orphans in the past few years than most of us will do in our entire lifetimes. She will be deeply missed.
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
So true Lorie, I know that I had quite a few conversations with her and I knew she was there to help in our processes in any way she could. But something that stuck out to me was her obvious faith in God and things would be handled in the right time. You are so right in that she is getting a heros welcome in Heaven, and I know that God told her,"Well done my child, well done." I will also remember her laugh. My prayers are with her family and with WACSN today in the days to come as she will be missed by many, but welcomed home by God!
