With yesterday being Valentine's Day, Duane and I had planned on a night out to a restaurant. But those plans changed when the kids told us yesterday morning that we were to dress up in our fanciest clothes because they had a nice dinner planned for us at home.
So, at 5pm, we were instructed to go into our bedroom and get dressed. An hour and a half later, they told us we could come out of our room... they had transformed our dining room into a romantic restaurant complete with a sign that read "Cupid's Cafe" as well as heart decorations and candles on the table!
I was floored at the time they had taken to make sure every detail was not overlooked. They even had a list to show each sibling what their job was for the evening! Daniel met us at our bedroom door and escorted us to our table. :) That's where Grace gave us our menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. It was SO cute!
We chose "the special" which was salad, chicken alfredo, garlic bread, broccoli, and strawberry cobbler. Alyse and Jacob cooked the dinner and Grace and Daniel served us on fine china and crystal.
Marc was downstairs babysitting Lillian while we enjoyed our romantic dinner.
They never once broke character although we heard lots of giggles in the kitchen! After dinner, we even had entertainment- Grace, Daniel, and Jacob sang and danced to a love song. It was even choreographed!
What a night to remember!
We are certainly not the best parents in the world, but somewhere along the way we must have done something right because we have some really great kids!
Our dinner via "The Newman Cafe" beat any 5-star restaurant we could have eaten at- hands down!
It made me laugh and cry all at the same time. How precious this had to be!! Great memories!!
